Dear White Tiger Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year at Yokota Middle School, a place where purpose, pride, and possibility come together in powerful ways. Whether you are returning to the Den or joining our White Tiger family for the very first time, we are excited to welcome you into a school community where we lead with heart, learn with grit, and R.O.A.R. with pride.

I am Dr. Quiana Obeng, affectionately known as “Dr. Q,” and I am honored to continue serving as the principal of Yokota Middle School. This school holds a very special place in my heart. As a former parent of Yokota Middle School students, I know firsthand how meaningful these middle school years can be for students and families. It is now my privilege to help lead the next chapter of our school’s story with commitment, care, and a clear focus on student success.

At YKTM, we believe middle school is more than a bridge between elementary and high school. It is a critical season of growth, identity, discovery, responsibility, and resilience. Our goal is to create a learning environment where every student is seen, supported, challenged, and celebrated. We are committed to helping our students grow as confident learners, critical thinkers, compassionate peers, and responsible leaders who are prepared for the opportunities ahead.

Our school-wide motto continues to guide our work:
“In this Den, we lead with heart, learn with grit, and R.O.A.R. with pride.”

We will continue to bring this motto to life through our R.O.A.R. Framework:

Responsible – making choices that reflect integrity, accountability, and care for self and others
Organized – preparing, planning, and following through with purpose
Accepting – building a culture of belonging, respect, and empathy
Resilient – showing courage, consistency, and bounce-back strength when challenges arise

This year, we will continue deepening our impact through the 7 C’s of Lasting Impact: Communication, Collaboration, Community, Culture, Climate, Connection, and Celebration. These guiding principles will shape how we partner with families, support students, strengthen school culture, and create meaningful opportunities for every member of our White Tiger community to thrive.

As we begin the year, we are especially excited to continue building on the strong foundation already in place at YKTM. Our extracurricular opportunities will provide students with meaningful ways to connect, lead, explore, and grow. Our student support team remains committed to supporting the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Our academic programs, interventions, enrichment opportunities, and electives are designed to meet students where they are while helping them move forward with confidence and purpose.

Family partnership will remain one of our greatest priorities. We encourage you to stay connected through the Tiger Times Weekly, Aspen updates, school communications, and our official social media platforms. Your voice, involvement, and support matter. When school and home work together, students benefit in powerful ways.

On behalf of the entire Yokota Middle School staff, thank you for trusting us with your most precious gift: your child. We do not take that responsibility lightly. We are looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, connection, celebration, and White Tiger pride.
